Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Center (口枝角公園體育館) provides one room for either table-tennis or squash, one squash room, two table-tennis rooms, one dance room and one multi-purpose main arena, which can be converted into two volleyball courts, two basketball courts or eight badminton courts.
Although the sports center is situated not far from the Mei Foo MTR station, the place is a bit difficult to find in Lai Chi KoK Park because of the complicated direction. Please refer to the previous entry “Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Center – Direction”.
The sports center opens from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, except its maintenance days. The maintenance days take place on the first and third Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; however, the schedule will be changed to the next working day if it falls on a public holiday.
Convenient restrooms-cum-changing rooms can be found in the sports center. The rooms are clean with the installation of good ventilation. Shower rooms are also provided inside.
For the badminton courts, the courts are clean and not slippery. The light is good and does not attack the eyes of players. The air conditioning never disturbs the shuttlecock flight. Moreover, about ten chairs are provided beside each court, which are certainly enough for a group of badminton players. One spectator stand for 200 people is also installed in the sports hall.
Still like other sport centers in Hong Kong, there are many lines used for different sports drawn on the surface of the multi-purpose arena. Badminton players hence sometimes may get confused and make wrong decisions during their games.
