BANGKOK – Thailand’s world number four in women’s singles, Ratchanok Intanon, will miss a chance to defend her title at impending YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2014 because of an unrecovered left calf injury.

Kanitsara Ngoensrisuk, the executive director of Ratchanok’s club Banthongyod Badminton School, said Ratchanok has not fully recovered and will not be fit in time before the tournament begins next week. YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2014 with prize money of 250,000 dollars offered will take place in New Delhi on April 1-6.

Ratchanok won over Germany’s Juliane Schenk in the final round of YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2013.
